Invest in Solahart before rebate starts to decrease
The rebate amount on Solahart solar water heaters is set to decrease annually. The rebate increase memorandum, distributed by Eskom's Cedric Worthmann in February 2010, states that consumers can expect an annual reduction in the rebate amount relative to electricity price hikes.
According to the memorandum, the rebate amount on a 300-litre solar water heater will decrease from around R12 000 to around R3 000 over the next five years. Solar water heating companies expect the first reduction around February next year.
The current rebate amount paired with annual electricity savings will ensure your solar water heater pays for itself within five years. Once the rebate amount is reduced, the payback period on a solar water heater will most likely increase, depending on the electricity tariff increases.
There has never been a better time to invest in a Solahart solar water heater Contact Solahart today to take advantage of the current rebate amount.

The Solahart network grows by 25%
Solahart South Africa expanded its dealer network by 25% over the past two years. The recent tumult in the management of parastatal utility Eskom and challenges in the production and distribution of sufficient energy resulted in a higher demand for solar water heaters.
Over the past 28 years, Selected Energy secured a market segment for Solahart solar water heaters. When Eskom introduced the demand side management (DSM) programme to encourage investment in solar water heaters, Selected Energy was perfectly positioned to absorb the increased demand.
Said Selected Energy managing director Jim Hickey, "By the time Eskom announced the implementation of rolling blackouts in 2008, we already had an expansive dealer network to supply solar water heaters across South Africa. Eskom started placing a lot of focus on energy savings through solar water heating. Being an Eskom accredited solar water heater supplier did a lot for our credibility, as did our South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) approval."
Eskom hopes to install a million solar water heaters by 2012. Although the DSM programme drew the public's attention to solar water heating, the rebate amount Eskom initially offered wasn't incentive enough to help Eskom reach the one million mark.
"In February 2010 Eskom announced a significant increase in the rebate amount on solar water heaters. The increased rebate gave us a major boost, and it became worthwhile for us to expand our dealer network further," said Hickey.
Because Selected Energy already had a stable business model and aggressive marketing strategy, new dealers were easily integrated.
"Through experience we identified the best possible training and means of communication to ensure that the business model benefits both Selected Energy and our dealers. The business model is ideal for a growing industry like ours," concluded Hickey.
Selected Energy appointed distribution manager Ray Fernandez to manage and grow the dealer network. According to Fernandez the business model is attractive for potential dealers because it requires a smaller upfront investment than franchise opportunities.
"New dealers need relatively little start-up capital to get involved with Solahart. We encourage potential dealers to invest in six systems. With their initial investment, dealers gain access to installation training, marketing material and sales training," he said.
"Obviously we would like to expand our dealer network even more and make Solahart available in even the remotest parts of the country."
