Greater need for solar water heating
The South African solar heating industry is still in diapers, despite rising electricity costs.
South African consumers, economists and business owners are awaiting the National Energy Regulator of South Africa's (Nersa) response to Eskom's proposed electricity tariff hike of a staggering 34%. Economists fear that the tariff hike could further damage the already fragile South African economy and could result in further job-losses.
Amidst fears that the higher input costs could cripple businesses and push more South Africans below the poverty line, consumers and industries are still largely uneducated on the benefits of solar water heating.
"Solar water heaters benefit not only the homeowner, but also businesses, the environment and the economy," said Solahart managing director Jim Hickey.
"Solahart South Africa's new commercial solution will reduce electricity usage in any business significantly, resulting in lower input costs and boosting the economy as a whole," he said
"Furthermore a small solar water heater, such as the Kf181, can help households reduce their monthly electricity expenditures and their carbon footprint," he continued.
"It's time that we start putting pressure on government and insurance companies to make the installation of solar water heaters compulsory across the board to benefit the entire nation," he concluded.

Many benefit from the Kf181-promotion
Solahart dealers have been earning their keep over the past month. Kf181 units have been flying off the metaphorical shelf ever since Solahart launched its Kf181-promotion on 1 May 2009.
Solahart has committed to installing 70 Kf181 units at no charge in celebration of its addition to the Eskom DSM programme. That accounts for a R3 500 saving, bringing the overall price of the unit to under R20 000.
Contact 0861-SOLAHART (76524278) or click here to take advantage of this promotion. Offer ends 1 July 2009
Until 11 June,
